Upon My Love

Red Negligee and musk, upon my love
Burn through the ebon night, velvet glove
I wait to lie with her, upon my love
Gilding my lilly fair, passion love

Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha ah ah

To be where I want to be, upon my love
Under, her holding me, I rise above
Lost in the silver dream, upon my love
Things only we can share, passion love

Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha ah ah

Red Negligee and musk, upon my love
Burn through the ebon night, velvet glove
I wait to lie with her, upon my love
Gilding my lilly fair, passion love

Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha, ah ah
Ah ha ah ah

Close Enough To Touch

I once passed upon your way
And I knew you’d never stay
They were bound to say “Your love’s away”
At the ending of the day

Snooze, you lose
Beg, don’t choose
…I can feel you near
Close enough… to touch

Eminence and virtue stand
In a ring, upon your hand
My emprise, to win a heart, again
…Importune a lovely twin

Snooze, you lose
Beg, don’t choose
…I can feel you near
Close enough… to touch

Snooze, you lose
Beg, don’t choose
…I can feel you near
Close enough… to touch

I once passed upon your way
And I knew you’d never stay
They were bound to say “Your love’s away”
At the ending of the day

Snooze, you lose
Beg, don’t choose
…I can feel you near
Close enough… to touch

Snooze, you lose
Beg, don’t choose
….I can feel you near
Close enough… to touch

They were bound to say “Your love’s away”

Don’t Touch Me

You’ll see me on the street
In a magazine
Admire me where I stand
But don’t touch me

Don’t touch me
Leave me to be free
Don’t touch me
Don’t touch me
That’s as I want to be

And you know my face
I’m the girl next door
Admire me where I stand
But don’t touch me

Don’t touch me
Leave me to be free
Don’t touch me
Don’t touch me
That’s as I want to be

You’ll see me on the screen
In a movie show
Admire me where I stand
But don’t touch me

Don’t touch me
Leave me to be free
Don’t touch me
Don’t touch me
That’s as I want to be

Alone In The Rain

I once knew a girl
Who loved me very much
But I sent her away
And it hurt her
But I sent her away
And it haunts me
And it haunts me
And it haunts me
To this very day

‘Cus I need you, as you need me
‘Cus I need you, as you need me
And, together – that’s as we should be

So don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…

And I think she was crying
Tears in the rain
And it hurt her
But I sent her away
And it haunts me
To this very day

I want us to be together
I want us to be forever
And I know you, I know you
And you want it too
You know that you do

And you want it too
You know that you do

Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…
Don’t send me home
Alone in the rain…

Somewhere, In The Distance

Somewhere, in the distance
Lost and without time
A frail girl with gentle heart gives…
A golden sigh…

One day I’ll find her there and…
bring her home, as  mine
‘take her hand and…
kiss her cheek and…
bring her home, as  mine

So light the sunset wind that dances through her hair
A pale chiffon dress that plays upon the air

Somewhere, in the distance
Lost and without time
A frail girl with gentle heart gives…
A golden sigh…

One day I’ll find her there and…
bring her home, as mine
‘take her hand and…
kiss her cheek and…
bring her home, as mine

So light the sunset wind that dances through her hair
A pale chiffon dress that plays upon the air

Somewhere, in the distance
Lost and without time
A frail girl with gentle heart gives…
A golden sigh…

One day I’ll find her there and…
bring her home, as mine
‘take her hand and…
kiss her cheek and…
bring her home, as mine

One day I’ll find her there and…
bring her home, as mine
‘take her hand and…
kiss her cheek and…
bring her home, as mine

Summer Wind

How bright are our eyes
That lead us through the night
Into a world of light
And take us to a better world
Of light…. Again

We two, on the way…
That leads us through the night
Into a world of light
And takes us to a better world
Of light…. Again

And two we will stay…
It brings us back again
Into the summer wind
That takes us to a better world
Of light…. Again

How bright are our eyes
That lead us through the night
Into a world of light
And take us to a better world
Of light…. Again

Hands together, enjoined…
It brings us back again
Into the summer wind
And takes us to a better world
Of light…. Again

It brings us back again
Into the summer wind
And takes us to a better world
Of light…. Again

The Shadow of a Knife

I was so pleased to see
That you’d consider me
Together we would go
To places that I know

But I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine
I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine

You see, the pain’s still real
Something I can feel
Whenever I see you
Do you remember too?

But I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine
I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine

Your silken hair, upon the air, a…
Cloud upon your heart
And you’d be his, and I knew this, I…
Think right from the start…  from the start

The shadow of a knife
It’s in my heart for life
Whenever I see you
Do you remember too?

But I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine
I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine
But I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine
I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine

Under The Tropic Moon

Shimmer, moon, upon the sands
Isle beach, whereon she walks
Shimmer stars, whereon she stands
Sovereign, to whom she talks

…upon the sands
Alone…
…upon the sands
Alone…

Summer moon
Tropic moon
How I know you well

Summer moon
Tropic moon
And only you could tell

Shimmer, moon, upon the sands
Isle beach, whereon she walks
Shimmer stars, whereon she stands
Sovereign, to whom she talks

…upon the sands
Alone…
…upon the sands
Alone…

Summer moon
Final moon
And only you could know

Summer moon
Final moon
And where am I to go?

Shimmer, moon, upon the sands
Isle beach, whereon she walks
Shimmer stars, whereon she stands
Sovereign, to whom she talks

…upon the sands
Alone…
…upon the sands
So alone…

Tam Lin

Janet tied her kirtle green a bit above her knee
And she's gone to Carterhaugh as fast as go can she
"Oh, tell to me, Tam Lin," she said, "why came you here to dwell?"
"The Queen of Faeries caught me when from my horse I fell

And at the end of seven years she pays a tithe to Hell
I, so fair and full of flesh, and feared it be myself
But tonight is Hallowe'en and the faerie folk ride
Those that would their true love win at Miles Cross they must bide

First let pass the horses black and then let pass the brown
Quickly run to the white steed and pull the rider down
For I'll ride on the white steed, the nearest to the town
For I was an earthly knight, they give me that renown

They will turn me in your arms to a newt or a snake
But hold me tight and fear not, I am your baby's father
And they will turn me in your arms into a lion bold
But hold me tight and fear not and you will love your child

And they will turn me in your arms into a naked knight
But cloak me in your mantle and keep me out of sight"
And in the middle of the night she heard the bridle ring
She heeded what he did say and young Tam Lin did win

Then up spoke the Faerie Queen, an angry queen was she
Woe betide her ill-fard face, an ill death may she die!
"Oh, had I known, Tam Lin," she said, "what this night I did see
I'd have looked him in the eyes and turned him to a tree”

I forbid you maidens all that wear gold in your hair
To travel to Carterhaugh for young Tam Lin is there
None that go by Carterhaugh, but they leave him a pledge
Either their mantles of green or else their maidenhead

Whether We Live Or Die – Muse Revisions

I thought I  saw you once…      I could swear I did

Whether we live or die
Knowing the reason why
Whether we die or live
Knowing what we can give

I thought I saw you once,         I could swear I did…
Walking through willows trees…           of verdant lace and umber
I think you knew I was…    that I was, a friend
Walking through willows trees…       canvas by Monet

Whether we live or die
Knowing the reason why
Whether we die or live
Knowing what we can give

I thought I saw you once,     I could swear I did…
Dripping irony, every stroke,    lovely as the rain
I think you saw a man…      I could be, a lover
Walking through willows trees…      canvas by Monet

I thought I saw you once,      I could swear I did…
Down by the willow stream…  a girl of silk and amber
I think you knew I would…       I could be, a lover
Walking through willows trees…      canvas by Monet

Whether we live or die
Knowing the reason why
Whether we die or live
Knowing what we can give

Whether we live or die
Knowing the reason why
Whether we die or live
Knowing what we can give

I thought I  saw you once…     I could swear I did

Matty Groves

A holiday, a holiday, and the first one of the year
Lord Darnell's wife came into church, the gospel for to hear
And when the meeting it was done, she cast her eyes about
And there she saw little Matty Groves, walking in the crowd

"Come home with me, little Matty Groves, come home with me tonight
Come home with me, little Matty Groves, and sleep with me till light"

"Oh, I can't come home, I won't come home and sleep with you tonight,
By the rings on your fingers I can tell you are Lord Darnell's wife"

"What if I am Lord Darnell's wife? Lord Darnell's not at home
For he is out in the far cornfields, a’bringing the yearlings home"

And a servant who was standing by and hearing what was said,
He swore Lord Darnell he would know before the sun would set

And in his hurry to carry the news, he bent his breast and ran,
And when he came to the broad mill stream, ‘took off his shoes and swam

Little Matty Groves, he lay down and took a little sleep
When he awoke, Lord Darnell he was standing at his feet

Saying "How do you like my feather bed? And how do you like my sheets?
How do you like my lady gay who lies in your arms asleep?"

"Oh, well I like your feather bed, and well I like your sheets,
But better I like your lady gay who lies in my arms asleep"

"Well, get up, get up," Lord Darnell cried, "get up as quick as you can!
It'll never be said in fair England I slew a naked man"

"Oh, I can't get up, I won't get up, I can't get up for my life
For you have two long beaten swords and I not a pocket-knife"

"Well it's true I have two beaten swords, and they cost me deep in the purse
But you will have the better of them and I will have the worse"

"And you will strike the very first blow, and strike it like a man
I will strike the very next blow, and I'll kill you if I can"

So Matty struck the very first blow, and he hurt Lord Darnell sore
Lord Darnell struck the very next blow, and Matty struck no more

And then Lord Darnell he took his wife and he sat her on his knee,
Saying, "Who do you like the best of us, Matty Groves or me?"

And then up spoke his own dear wife, never heard to speak so free
"I'd rather a kiss from dead Matty's lips than you or your finery"

Lord Darnell he jumped up and loudly he did bawl,
He struck his wife right through the heart and pinned her against the wall

"A grave, a grave!'' Lord Darnell cried, "to put these lovers in
But bury my lady at the top for she was of noble kin"

Night Of Distant Echoes

Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh, ohhh…
Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh, ohhh…
Of late, I sit my lonely crag, and watch the world turn
And oft of late, and of afar, I listen to it burn
The willow wind, on o’er my lee, has scarce will to diminish
Or still the echoes in the night, ‘come running to their finish

And lone, against a crystal sky
I‘ll wait, until my end
Shall rip me forward, future-bound
Soon there, to see my friends

And though this world may rage and seethe, in conflict and in war
I sit and listen, knowing I’ve more right than ‘er before
To fear them all, so far from view, faint echoes in my ear
And beg the One, the Holy One, to bring their end, so near

And lone, against a crystal sky
I ‘ll wait, until my end
Shall rip me forward, future-bound
Soon there, to see my friends

‘Was a time, so long ago, I railed, to stand against them
And raised the hew and beckoned cry, against their faces, ashen
All would seek to shackle me, so fugitive and wild
To seek amidst the wrack of love, and so beget its child

And lone, against a crystal sky
I ‘ll wait, until my end
Shall rip me forward, future-bound
Soon there, to see my friends

The Somerset Mare

In the darkness of night, in the black final hours
She drifts, a witch light, among nightshade flowers
And shuns mortal men, with their wild-eyed stare
Through forest and glen, rides the Somerset Mare

Once mortal, once girl, turned now, by the Mage,
Unrequited lover, to bring her to the cage
She runs in the woods, her true love forlorn
He searches to find her, his lover’s heart torn

Yet one day they shall marry, as fey lovers do,
For dread Fate must yield, to hearts that ring true
The spell will be broken, but for now she remains
The Somerset Mare, running wild, without reins

In the darkness of night, in the black final hours
She drifts a witchlight, among nightshade flowers
And shuns mortal men, with their wild-eyed stare
Through forest and glen, rides the Somerset Mare
